An installation of painting and sculpture, "Tritons bleus-vermeils" extends its murals along the gallery walls, surrounding the visitor on 3 sides. In bright vermillion and blues, one discovers the visceral depiction of a soldier's final hours. The exhibit leads the viewer behind the strong exterior of the expendable front line soldier to see his fears and phantoms, longing for home, and the spending of his life. This show is neither a statement for nor against the existence of wars. Rather, it looks at the human side, with the focus on an individual called for sacrifice.
The first painting is in the form of a 45 foot-long triptych. Each section reflects a particular truth for the man as he comes to terms with his death. The use of soldier as a merman is a metaphor for masculinity in its graceful form. The merman is also a forgotten creature, in much the same way that a man's fragility and beauty are qualities often forgotten in today's society. Turned inside out through his wound, this aqueous being swims inside his own body, awash in his mythology.
With the young soldier in checkmate, a sculpted stoneware chess set leading into the two dimensional world of painting provides the formal entry into "Tritons bleus-vermeils". On the other side of the room, a mural of the soldier being 'dipped into the earth' runs adjacent to a stoneware altar mounted on the wall. The visitor can walk around an army litter below the altar, upon which the blue compexioned soldier is painted in oils on the stretcher's canvas.
"Tritons bleus-vermeils" continues a theme where the artist has been examining various aspects of the male role.

"TRITONS BLEUS-VERMEILS"
Tritons bleus vermeils est une installation de peintures et de sculptures qui tapisse les murs, hantant ainsi l'espace de la galerie. Le visiteur entouré de peintures murales bleu et vermillon clair sur trois côtés, découvre la représentation viscérale des dernières heures d'un soldat. L'exposition nous fait pénétrer à l'intérieur de la robuste enveloppe du militaire combattant au front et nous présente ses peurs et ses fantasmes, ses envies d'intimité et le terme de sa vie. Cette présentation ne porte aucun jugement sur les guerres. Elle traite plutôt d'une expérience humaine universelle, et se concentre sur un homme offert en sacrifice.
La première toile est un triptyque qui serpente sur quelque treize mètres de long dont chaque volet représente une séquence temporelle précédant l'expiration du jeune soldat. C'est pendant ce court moment de vérité absolue que l'homme est contraint d'accepter sa mort. Dans ce tableau, le soldat est représenté sous la forme d'un triton, métaphore de la fluidité et du galbe de la silhouette masculine. Par ailleurs, le triton est une créature enfouie, comme la fragilité et la beauté d'un homme, qualités souvent oubliées dans la société d'aujourd'hui. Plongé dans sa plaie, cet animal aquatique nage dans son propre corps, immergé dans sa mythologie. Un jeu d'échec en grès céramique sculpté conduit dans un univers pictural en deux dimensions et sert d'entrée officielle aux Tritons bleus vermeils. Du côté opposé de la salle, une peinture murale du corps du soldat s'enlisant dans les sables du cimetière jouxte un autel de grès monté sur le mur. Sous l'autel, le soldat au teint bleu, à même la toile de la civière.
Tritons bleus vermeils reprend un thème cher à l'artiste, prétexte à méditer sur différents aspects de l'identité masculine dans la société.
