CHESS GAME LEADING INTO CHECKMATE PAINTING WITH CENTAURS.

The chess set seen here of stoneware and porcelain pieces, lead into the chess grid of the painting behind them. As the exhibit progressed, the pieces traveled across the gallery space to the other side of the exhibition area where they surrounded the soldier on an army stretcher. The chess board is painted onto canvas. It is 12 feet long. Were you to stand on the chess board, the painting of the centaurs would surpass your height (it is 8 feet high), and you could become rather involved in the drama of the moves due to the scale.
